Our intern program for college and local high school students is the perfect opportunity for those interested in sports management to get a taste of all aspects of the sports industry. Through our internships, we are able to provide an exposure to all aspects of game day and media operations, enhancing what our students have already learned within the classroom. With so many of our interns describing their experience as a Bird Intern as the ‘best summer of their lives’, it’s no wonder that so many of them go on to every level of sports industry in every league. Our interns are guaranteed to not only receive college credit for their time and efforts, but gain firsthand experience that can later be applied to their careers.
Media Team Interns:
The CCBL 2021 season starts June 12, 2021 and ends on August 11,2021. Media Team Interns typically arrive 1 week prior to season start

Responsible for overseeing and setting up all broadcast equipment before each game. Manage the production of the game day program, including pre-production meetings. This job allows for the individual to design and produce a 3-hour show, including play by play, advertising, sideline interviews, pre and post-game shows and additional video content. Previous work submission required for consideration.
Prepare for and broadcast all home and away games and playoffs as part of a broadcasting team, including in game analysis and color commentary on game associated action. Participate in all pre- and post-game production planning. Preparation will include at minimum updated player information of both teams at each game, including pronunciations of names, updated fact checked stats, and coordinating with opposing team broadcasters. Complete all assigned pre- and post-game interviews as determined in production meetings. Post activities to team website as assigned, Submission of play-by-play broadcasting audio and video material is required for consideration.
Head of Videography:
Capture all game day action using multiple camera positions. Work with Sling Studio to provide a seamless and improved video experience. This includes designing the camera position, handling a remote camera, and supporting the broadcasting team including the sideline reporting team. Participate in Pre- and post-game production. This position will also oversee the still photography. Responsible for archiving all team related video on team related storage sites. Previous work samples are required for consideration
Provide pre, in game and post-game still photography. Candidates should demonstrate a proven interest in photography and a well-rounded understanding of the game of baseball. Will work as part of the media team to capture all aspects of the baseball experience at Eldredge Park as well as other community and team events. Responsible for archiving all photos on team related storage sites. Previous work samples are required for consideration
Social Media and Marketing Manager:
Responsible for all social media posting across all platforms. including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Provide pre, in game and post-game activity surrounding the production of the game at Eldredge Park. Coordinate and develop content for website. Develop, engage, and promote local events to highlight the team and the community. Develop other marketing initiatives to promote the Orleans Firebirds and the community. Coordinate yearbook distribution in lower cape towns. Previous work experience and samples required for consideration.
Provide pre, in game and post-game reports and interviews on game related & sports related as well as human interest stories at Firebirds home games as well as special interviews for website posting. Must have ability to identify and secure candidates to interview. Develop interview outlines in concert with media team. Previous work samples are required for consideration
Interview players, coaches, and fans. Write game recaps for website. Research and produce weekly features for website posting. Assist sideline reporter and support social media manger when needed. This position will also support Sideline Reporter with potential on air presence. Coordinate & assist in development of weekly newsletter distributed to Firebirds Fan Club members.
Game Day Operations Interns:
The Orleans Firebirds Game Day Internship program is for highly motivated college students that have an interest in the business of sport management. The program is designed to give you your first experience within the sports industry with an emphasis on game-day operations, retail sales, and customer service. This position is open to any college student. The Internship is from June 12 - August 11, 2021, that would result in 20-40 hours a week. The 2020 Season will consist of 20 regular season home games and up to 6 playoff games.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Must currently be a college student. A desire to pursue a career in the sport management field
Strong customer service skills
A fun and outgoing personality with a strong work ethic
Assist with game set-up
Assist with post-game duties
Distribute Orleans Firebirds yearbooks to the community
Other duties as assigned
10-30 hours a week.
Approximately five hours a game (arriving 2 hours prior to the scheduled start of the game)
Retail Intern (3)
• Work with Retail Managers in Home Plate Shop
• Selling, stocking, and inventorying retail merchandise
• Pregame preparation of merchandise areas
• Manage volunteers and Game Day Interns working in Retail
• Help customers finding and purchasing merchandise
• Accurately record sales
• Post-game cleanup of merchandise areas
