Welcome to Eldredge Park!

Home of the Orleans Firebirds!

Eldredge Park in Orleans is the Baseball Home of the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). The Cape League is in its 128th season. In the mid 1960’s, the Cape League made the transition from a “town team” to a team comprised of players from the best collegiate baseball programs in America.  Then CCBL is a wooden bat league, perfect preparation for players hoping to advance into professional baseball.  There are 10 CCBL teams arranged in an Eastern and Western Division.  All teams have their own baseball diamond and play 22 Regular Season games at home and 22 games “on the road”.  Division standing determines participation in Division Playoffs and then the CCBL Championship Series.

Eldredge Park is a beautiful venue for CCBL baseball.  All games are played under the stars starting at 7:00 p.m.  (Click here for 2012 Schedule).   Admission is FREE with no reserved seating.  The field is “open” at all times so you may come early to watch team preparations, enjoy a picnic, relax on a blanket, shop at the Home Plate Shop, or simply enjoy the beautiful setting with family and friends…or fellow Firebirds fans.  It’s a good idea to bring a blanket for ground cover and a sweatshirt or jacket for later in a cool evening.  No Smoking or alcoholic beverages are allowed. The Park is a family setting where parents are expected to watch and control their children while exhibiting the highest levels of sportsmanship…and having a fun time watching America’s National Pastime played “the right way” in a healthy, inspiring and safe environment.

Firebirds players and coaches are pleased to meet any and all fans immediately after the game on the field.  Talk with the players, autographs, and photos are all encouraged.  Bring the Firebirds Yearbook,  a baseball or a Firebirds Cap or T-Shirt for autographing…don’t forget to bring a pen!  Try to have every player sign during the course of the season!  Many Orleans players have gone on to very successful Major League careers!  You can learn about the players by talking with them, reading the Yearbook or clicking on the new OrleansFirebirds.com website.

Eldredge Park was the recipient of a $150,000 grant from the Yawkey Foundation to be matched by local financial support to enhance the safety, entertainment value, and playing conditions of the field.  In 2010, over $270,000 was expended for safety netting behind the backstop and 180’ down each foul line; a brick knee wall with protective padding behind home plate; two new outstanding dugouts; new 5’ fencing from the end of the dugouts down each foul line; and improvements to the infield, pitcher’s mound and home plate areas.

In Spring, 2011 another $70,000 was expended to provide a professional class infield, pitcher’s mound and home plate area; a leveled and sodded surface 10-20’ into the outfield; sodding in the infield and around the dugout to backstop area; warning tracks around the outfield and behind home plate from dugout to dugout; extended protective padding on the brick knee wall; and new bullpens for home and visitors.   Volunteer contractors at season’s end turned the overgrown and unattractive areas in the right field area and behind home plate into park-like settings.

Come See the Firebirds and Enjoy Beautiful Eldredge Park!
