Why Give to the Firebirds?

A gift to the Firebirds will continue the positive and healthy impact of our national pastime on the lives of young boys and girls, aspiring athletes at all levels, family ties across generations, and community togetherness. Playing baseball, being a baseball fan, talking about baseball, building relationships with our baseball heroes can be a wholesome and exciting part of our lives as both a child and an adult. 

The Orleans Firebirds feature the best collegiate players in America providing exciting, fun-filled, sports entertainment each summer in a safe, family-oriented, beautiful setting at Eldredge Park in Orleans. The Firebirds team plays the game “the right way” and instills the timeless values of sportsmanship and healthy sports competition for fans young and old. 

Continuing this unique experience requires the Firebirds to have a financially secure franchise. The Orleans Firebirds offer a superior Baseball Clinic for the children and grandchildren of our community with professional equipment and instruction; scholarships for youngsters to attend the Baseball Clinic; a professional quality baseball diamond; a picturesque and safe fan viewing area; memorabilia shopping and special events. 

The 2011 Firebirds Fan Club Challenge built a loyal donor base of almost 1,500 fans (625 donations) who contributed $58,000 to the franchise to more than match the 1:1 $41,000 generously provided by six generous Fan Club Challengers. A financially secure franchise will provide for on-going team operations on field and off the field; improve this quintessential small-town baseball venue hailed as one of the best of its kind in America; and provide a modest Capital Reserve to undertake longer term projects to enhance this community treasure. 

The “Firebirds Fan Club” seeks to raise $90,000 in 2012 to eliminate our current debt and continue improvements to Eldredge Park while providing a solid foundation for enjoying our national pastime in Orleans. A small group of generous supporters will provide an initial $30,000 incentive for Firebirds fans and community-driven citizens to collectively match or exceed the $60,000 donated in 2012. Hopefully, the Firebirds Fan Club will grow in numbers and donation and serve as the backbone of the franchise’s longer term financial health. 

Your donation is an investment in our children, grandchildren, and families; the young people and adults who make the Orleans Firebirds “happen” each Summer; the collegiate players and their families who carry this unique Summer experience into their lives; the hundreds of volunteers who love their Firebirds; the 40-000-50,000 residents, visitors, and tourists who attend Firebirds games each CCBL Season; and the vitality of our local economy. The Firebirds are a “Win/Win” investment for everyone!
