A decision has been made to redesign the Firebirds Yearbook for 2012 to make it more attractive and, we hope, more appealing to our fans, volunteers, advertisers, and players.
After conducting a significant amount of research, the Team has partnered with Ritt Communications, and its principal, Glenn Ritt, to manage the books content, advertising sales, and production. Glenn was previously publisher of The Cape Codder, and he currently publishes five other magazines on the Cape.
Furthermore, the book will be expanded from its previous format to an 8 inch by 11 inch magazine produced in full color. The book’s distribution will be dramatically increased and be inserted for the first time in The Cape Codder. Other moves will be made to better reach both full time residents and second homeowners.
Editorial content will be expanded to include more features on the team, past players, volunteers, and the Cape Cod Baseball League. Also, the book will be better utilized to promote the Home Plate Shop, the Baseball Clinic, and the Firebirds Fan Club.
A significant effort will be made to increase the value of advertising in the book. All ads will be larger for ease of reading and organized to be easier to find. Advertisers will be offered other benefits such as the inclusion of QR codes and the opportunity to purchase discounted field banners. The print version will also become a digital E-Magazine appearing on the Firebirds web site with direct links to the advertisers on the World Wide Web.
The sale of advertising and the preparation of editorial content commenced in early November with the expectation on completing full distribution before the start of the 2012 season. The Team hopes to utilize the improved book to promote the Orleans Firebirds and improve our profile from Orleans to Provincetown while providing a new revenue stream to support operations.
